Edie Sedgwick

"The colours...oh, I see the most fantastic things. Do you realise when people just close their eyes what they see? It's unbelievable. Colours and things, forms of every sort. I wonder if that happens for everybody?", edie sedgwick

Dior Couture Spring 2011

Paris, January 24, 2011, John Galliano presents a beautifully stunning Christian Dior couture show. The show, a salute to Rene Gruau, who's illustrative work for Christian Dior in the 40's and 50's created the houses most iconic imagery, gave Galliano the opportunity to indulge his passion for true haute couture. Here are a couple of my favourite designs, I find Galliano's work completely mesmerizing, a couple of key details from the show are:
-Graphite smears, pencil strokes and scribbles.
-Flared skirts from corseted waists, inspired by the 'New Look'.
-Dropped pencil skirts to below the knee.
-The interplay of light and shade, dark pink contrasting with pale pink, embroidery only being used on one side of the fabric so it cast a subtle shadow.
-Ostrich feathers.

And my favourite:-

-Layers and layers of tulle.

All in all the show held everything your imagination could transpire, extravagance, spontaneity and sheer beauty.

Rihanna's Style

I have been having a look at a couple of Rihanna's looks over the past couple of months. I think the red hair has been a turning point in her style and her turned her into an icon. Here are a few of my favourite looks, I think she looks extremely sleek with long straight hair.

I'm also loving the bold colour combination which resembles the colour clashing trend of Spring/Summer 2011.

Blake's Look

After hearing about Blake's Chanel announcement, I've been having a look at a couple of her outfits, and have come to the conclusion that she looks stunning both dressed for occasion or casual in trousers and loose fit blouse. I really love the grey boyfriend blazer, a must have in any wardrobe.

Blake Lively-New Chanel Ambassador

Image taken from vogue.com

Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively has been chosen to become the new face of Chanel's Mademoiselle handbag line. Described by Lagerfeld as being a "kind of American dream girl", I think that Lively is going to be perfect for the job.

"How did Cinderella feel when she slipped on the glass slipper? How did Snow White feel when she met her Prince Charming?" Lively says. "A dream come true is an understatement. I can say that I feel like the happiest, luckiest girl around."

Issey Miyake Inspiration

As part of a project, I have been looking at Issey Miyake and found him to be truly inspiring. I love this image showing the movement he  allows his garments to have. He brings fashion and architecture together to create new and inspiring looks, and because of Miyake I have found a new love for pleats.

H&M Spring/Summer 2011

Here is a sneak peak at the H&M Spring/Summer 2011 Collection, taken from WGSN.  T collection focuses on reinventing classic trends and renewing old favourites. With the 60's and 70's being the two biggest influences of the up and coming season, there is a classic retro feel to the collections key garments, which include the blouse, dress, blazer and trousers. A sports-luxe feel is given to jersey basics whilst the blouse is seen as a key look, giving a sophisticated yet relaxed feel. I'm really loving the two pairs of boots, and the blouse and shorts look, they are perfect for the summer. I'm also really liking the boho maxi dress, it would look stunning on a beach holiday.
